COMPOSITION OF AN AMANI CLUB

    The name of the clubs will be known as Amani Club (including the name of the particular school/institution)

  • OBJECTIVES
    THE OBJECTIVES

    The objectives of the Amani clubs are to:

    1. Promote respect for religious, cultural and linguistic diversity in a plural society by enhancing tolerance, understanding and acceptance of diversity in all aspects of national life.
    2. Promote the use of dialogue and other peaceful means of resolving conflicts and disagreements within and outside the schools.
    3. Enhance good character and self-discipline among the youth.
    4. Empower students to deal with life’s challenges peacefully and become responsible citizens.
    5. Promote good relations and harmonious co-existence amongst students themselves and between schools and their neighboring communities.

  • MEMBERSHIP
    MEMBERSHIP AND OFFICE BEARERS

    Recruitment of members to the club shall be guided by the following:

    1. Membership to Amani club shall be open to all registered learners of the particular school or learning institution.
    2. Members of the Amani Club shall include learners in different levels/grades/classes at the particular school/institution
    3. The club shall have a minimum of sixteen (16) members with a maximum being determined by the school/institution.
    4. A membership fee may be levied as per the guidelines provided by the school/institution.

  • OFFICE BEARERS
    OPERATIONAL AND CO-ORDINATION STRUCTURE

    The Amani club executive committee will comprise of the following office bearers:

    1. The Chairperson
    2. The Vice Chairperson
    3. The Secretary General
    4. The Organizing Secretary
    5. The Treasurer
    6. Patron / Matron who shall be a teacher/lecturer at the particular school / institution
    7. Any Co-opted member as may be necessary

Members Rights

  1. Actively participate in the proceedings of Club meetings.
  2. Take part in all activities of the Club.
  3. Enjoy the right to personal opinion during Club and any other meetings convened by the Club.
  4. Express their opinion in a proper and appropriate manner in any Clubs meeting.
  5. Freedom from discrimination based on ethnicity, colour, disability, gender or age.

Conduct of Officials

  1. Eligibility Office bearers must be full-time learners of good standing / discipline.
  2. Election The office bearers shall be elected by secret ballot every year, by a majority of the vote cast for that office.
  3. Term The officers shall serve for a term of one year and their term of office shall begin at the commencement of the academic year / on the date of election.
  4. Vacancy If a vacancy occurs in the office of Chairperson, the Vice-Chairperson shall assume the office for the remainder of the term and vacancies in any other office shall be filled by a special election.
  5. Meetings The executive committee shall meet at least once between regular meetings of the club to organize and plan future activities.

Chairperson

  1. Preside over all meetings of the executive committee and at all general meetings
  2. Represent the club in other forums, after consultation with the Patron/Matron
  3. Serve as an ex-official member of all committees except the nominating committee
  4. Perform such other duties as ordinarily pertaining to this office

Vice-Chairperson

  1. Preside over club meetings in the absence of the Chairperson
  2. Carry out all such activities as may be delegated to him or her from time to time by the Chairperson

Secretary General

  1. Record the minutes of all meetings
  2. Keep a file of the club’s record of activities and reports
  3. Maintain a current roster of membership
    iv. Issue notices of meetings and conduct the general correspondence of the club

Organizing Secretary

  1. Coordinate the implementation of the termly/annual programme of activities within the Amani club
  2. Prepare periodic reports of activities undertaken by the club

Treasurer

  1. Receive all funds and process Request for Payment, Deposit Slip, and Officer Signature Forms
  2. Keep an itemized account of all receipts and expenditures and make reports as directed
In primary schools the patron / matron will be the finance custodian.
